Worship Him Wholly Alone

In the Twenty-first Century there arose another generation who does not know the LORD or walk in His ways. They do not bow on bended knees or fall on their faces in reverential fear. They do not tremble, tremble in the Most Holy Place—the holy of holies where His name dwells, and they are not awe-struck in awesome wonder by His awe-inspiring, amazing, and majestic glory. For their hearts prone to wander no longer tethered by fetters of grace are led astray from His cleansing stream of mercy where the healing waters flow from the fountain of life—the fount of the Most High.

Today, they too, like scoffers quote Scripture saying, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” For today, they long to worship like other nations. Today, they long to dance like other nations. Today, they long to drink up empty life like other nations that cannot fulfill, profit, or deliver them, and today they long to live like other nations free at last from the Decalogue and Deity. For their hearts long after the ways of modern man who does what is right in their own eyes, as they believe there is no absolute truth and there is no God.

Alas, their souls do not hunger and thirst for righteousness. Their souls do not long after God as the deer panteth for living water. Their souls estranged and blinded by the spirit and Age of Enlightenment don themselves with the armer of flesh, and yield not mind, body, and free will wholly to God alone. And their souls whore after fame and glory, gold and silver as they do not believe God alone can satisfy the insatiable hunger for significance.

Behold, the Rock of Ages, Ebeneezer, the living Stone of Israel is the LORD our God, and He has not broken faith with His covenantal steadfast love that transcends decades and dynasties to a thousand generations and beyond. He has left a remnant of His inheritance in the Twenty-first Century to be the salt and light, living testimony, and image bearers as children of the promise who have not broken faith with their God or bow the knee to Baal.

Therefore, we as children of the promise, will enter His gates with thanksgiving in our hearts. We as children of the promise, will enter His courts with unapologetic praise. We as children of the promise, declare that this is the day that the LORD has made, and we will rejoice and worship Him in spirit and truth. So, let the cymbals give Him praise! Let the trumpets give Him praise! Let the thunderous earthshaking mountain moving organ give Him praise! For the songwriter says, “When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory. Let us then be true and faithful, trusting, serving every day; just one glimpse of Him in glory, will the toils of life repay.” Yea, Scripture says, “Stand up and bless the LORD your God from everlasting to everlasting. Blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.” So, let us lift up holy hands, praise and worship God alone, for we were created to make His name glorious. For there is no other living God like the Rock, and we worship Him wholly alone.

One response to “Worship Him Wholly Alone”

  1. Brother, I love the poem and see the word play on “Wholly,” being with our entire being in everything we do and say daily. Also, see it as a call to remain Holy as God requires, and to keep holding up the banner of our Lord and Savior in the midst of the war for souls. H
