Spoken word by the spiritual poet

Why do you follow me?  Is it because you heard about the man from Galilee, who could save your soul?  Is it because you heard about the manger boy born in Bethlehem, who could make you whole?  Why do you follow me?  Is it because you heard I turned the water into wine?  Is it because you heard I spoke life into lame limbs and gave sight to the blind?  Why do you follow me?  Do you believe John the Baptist, prophet of the Most High, a burning and shining lamp was the last prophetic forerunner before me?  Do you believe my testimony is greater than John the Baptist and the Scripture, “Every valley will be filled, and every mountain and hill will be made low; the crooked will become straight, the rough ways smooth, and everyone will see the salvation of God.”, was the segue, gateway and entrance for me, the messianic Messiah of the Most High?

Why do you follow me?  Is it because you heard about the centurion’s great faith that could not be found in all of Israel?  Is it because you heard about the Syrophoenician woman’s mustard seed crumbs of faith found at the feet of Jesus?  Why do you follow me?  Do you believe I am the ancient prophet of old like Moses, who would be raised up from among your brothers and sisters and bring revolution, reformation and restoration to the chosen called out covenant community?  Do you believe that I am Jesus of Nazareth, the very essence, image and powerful Son of God through whom marvelous, miraculous and magnificent world-changing wonders would be done by God?

Why do you follow me?  Is it because you heard about the woman at the well who was seeking and found the ever-present everlasting wellspring of life who dwells in unapproachable light?  Is it because you heard about the woman with the issue of blood, who said, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be made well.” and was healed of her sickness and healed from her sin?  Why do you follow me?   Do you believe that I am the life and light of all spirit, all flesh and of all breath?  Do you believe that I am the Sent One, Coming One and the one and only Holy One, who is called the first and the last, Faithful and True, and the majestic God of glory?

Why do you follow me?  Is it because you heard I spoke to the wind and the waves of a wayward world and they bowed in honor and obedience to my sovereignty?  Is it because you heard I am the fulfiller of all the Law and Prophets, Psalms of praise and fulfiller of all righteousness?  Why Do you follow me?  Do you believe I am the Passover Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world?  Do you believe that I and the Father are one, that I am the eternal invisible God incarnate and if you have seen me, you have seen the Father?  Why do you follow me?  Is it because you heard I am the Good Shepherd, Suffering Servant, and savior of the whole world?  Is it because you heard me say, “Don’t let your heart be troubled.  Believe in God; believe also in me.  In my Father’s house are many rooms; if not, I would have told you.  I am going away to prepare a place for you.  If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also.”

Why do you follow me?  Do you believe that all authority and power have been given to me in heaven and earth?  Do you believe that I am the Son of God and Son of Man who has authority to forgive sin on earth?  Why do you follow me?  Is it because you heard I conquered the sting of sin and the gravity and grip of the grave?  Is it because you heard I am greater than your father Israel, greater than your father Abraham and greater than your Law giver Moses, the most humble and faithful servant in all of God’s household?  Why do you follow me?
