Courage On The Frontlines

As the death toll of souls swell, surge, and soar well beyond belief, our best and brightest in the mighty Mecca of medicine are frantically scouring, scavenging and scraping to gather all remedies and cocktails as serum to solution, subside and stem Coronavirus’ unstoppable stampede’s deathblow.  Furthermore, there is talk about the inescapable “rolling apex” that will hit all of America, from the West Coast to the East Coast and all her heartland in between.  We now know, it is not a matter of if but a matter of time before the “rolling apex” adversely affects our community, kin and clan.

Never before has mortality been able to grab, grip, uproot and uncover humanity’s naked primal-fear of death on such epic scale.  As we hear roll calls of our men and women of uncommon valor donned in red, white and blue, who have fallen on the frontlines of Public Service.  These public servants are our fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters, friends and extended family who are determined to “stand your ground” against COVID-19’s infectious infestation.  We have seen the names and faces of friends and families in neighboring towns, strangers in neighboring states and movie stars around the globe who have all fallen to the fate of COVID-19 scroll across flat screens by local news.

Although, there is seemingly no immediate end in sight, I am overwhelmed and humbled at the thought that our families fighting on the frontlines who do not panic in the face of COVID-19 pandemic, do so willingly with passion and great grit at the peril of their own lives for the sake of our future. This is the quintessential meaning of courage on the frontlines.
