God Is In The Boat

God, this morning we approach your presence with great guilt, angst and doubt, as we are estranged from you because of our ego.  Now we must let go of our ego, as we are driven to our knees before your throne of grace in hopes that we may find tidbits of boldness and morsels of your mercy.  As the stress and strain from the affects and duress of COVID’s daily ever-changing and ever-breaking news ushers in levels of unprecedented uncertainty that is overwhelmingly disarming and debilitating.  For all of our weighted anchors which secured us prior cannot support or sustain us throughout this unforeseen global impact.

Like king Saul, our hearts pond from the sea of uncertainty and our arrhythmia has become unstable by the mounting out-of-body experience from the thought of unemployment which grips us.  Like king David, we cry out, “Save me, God, for the waters has risen to my neck.  I have sunk in deep mud, and there is no footing; I have come into deep water, and a flood sweeps over me.  I am weary from my crying; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God.”  And like the disciples in the boat, who cried out when the rogue windstorm came down on the lake, “Master, Master, we’re going to die!”, and were paralyzed in the ominous tempestuous face of fear.  But in the midst of our turbulent storms, raging winds and rogue waves, the Lord is at Sabbath, as He is in control.

Whether we are facing the freezing temperatures of life, facing the whelming floods of life, and facing the financial famine or fierce fires of life, we must remember that the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials. As our God is in the boat.
