You’re In Our Thoughts and Prayers

This thought was inspired by time spent with Dan Henry Sr and family, friends, associates and colleagues at Boston’s Convention Center.

You’re in our thoughts and prayers

There comes a time in our life when words simply cannot convey the unspeakable moment in which we stand.  As I lay down these thoughts, my eyes are welled with tears and heart is overwhelmed with utter grief from the loss of your first love, first born and first breath as he is intrinsically bone of your bone flesh of your flesh and soul of your soul.  I don’t have answers but we can be the hands that carry you through the darkest days of your lives that have yet to come.  I don’t have answers but we can be the arms of comfort that hold you up underneath the overwhelming weight of your world.  I don’t have answers but we can be the faces of expression that show you love, compassion, consolation and a determination to carry on until the dawn of your days rings again with a renewed joy, hope and trust in life.  And if we cannot be all of these and more for you, my prayer is that you’ll find the song in the night that truly has the ability to help, hold and miraculously heal your family from such tremendous loss.  That song in the night is Jesus, the Living Word. As he sings over your somber souls, may the Breath of the Lord show Himself in this trying time to be strong and true and to be the God that is your Peace, the God that is your Provider and the God that is your Healer.

With this confession faith and of our own free will, we gather today in the year of our Lord, Friday, October 29, 2010 in the assembly of the living as family and friends, colleagues and clients to drink the bittersweet communal cup of the life and times, creation and recreation, birth and rebirth of your first born, Danroy Henry Junior.  We know his breath is in the hollow of God’s hand and the number of his days as the dew on the grass has been miraculously fulfilled not in want or lacking none.

Permit us to say that we are more than neighbors and friends but indeed family.  Permit us to say that we, too, have suffered the loss of a beloved one.  Permit us to say that we, too, have lost a son and a brother in Christ.  Permit us to say that we, too, are adversely affected and forever changed by your eternal moment in history.  And permit us to say though at a distance, we, too, grieve when you grieve, cry when you cry and rejoice when you rejoice.  Although better days are ahead, press into us now and allow us to shoulder you through your valley of vicissitude.

So, it is out of your pain and sorrow that we willing partake, petition and press into our God with fervent prayer for comfort, clarity and closure to the absolute truth.  We pray that the spirit of vigilance and victory accompany you now as you canvass neighboring towns, counties and country at large bearing the testimonial torch of truth to shed light on that which is hidden in darkness.  Although you may feel seemingly stonewalled and up against an insurmountable impasse, remember your God is with you even until the end of the age.  Call upon him in your time of trouble and he will attend unto your cry.  Know that in all this, no matter what betides, we are there as you’re in our thoughts and prayers.
