Spoken word by the spiritual poet

21st century poetry/essays from a spiritual perspective

We Are BOSTON STRONG!

This thought was inspired by the Boston Red Sox World Series parade after their tremendous comeback from last to first.

We are BOSTON STRONG!

Of all times for the content, character and creed of Boston to be tried, it was birthed on the grand stage on the day of Boston’s Marathon in the year of our Lord, 2013.  Men, women, young and aged alike from every spectrum of human hue, tongue and tribe, nation and generation formed a wall that was twenty-six mortal miles long.  The aura of this moment was both epic and euphoric for the few and faithful who were willing to conquer twenty-six monumental miles in memory of those who lost their lives to the maladies of mortality.   Those who were willing to conquer twenty-six monumental miles in memory of ancestors past who fought and died in the spirit of the Battle Hymn of The Republic.  Those who were willing to conquer twenty-six monumental miles in memory of ancestors past who fought and died in the wars of World War One and World War Two.  Those who were willing to conquer twenty-six monumental miles in memory of ancestors past who fought and died in the wars of Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan and Iraq and so many more.  Those who were willing to conquer twenty-six monumental miles in memory of living war veterans facing the Goliath fight for their lives to fit in as paraplegics, quadriplegics, amputees, PTSDs and other assorted postwar psychological silent killers.   And there were those who ran both for a lifetime experience and to confirm that they had the tenacity and adrenalin rush of raw will to conquer twenty-six monumental miles and win.  This was all going down in concert as tens of thousands of onlookers bellowed forth a crescendo of continuum deafening praise for their athletes to conquer the twenty-six monumental mortal miles by crossing the crowning moment of achievement.

Unfortunately, we know all too well what happened to some that infamous day as participants and spectators alike crossed over from the human horrors of mortality into the sublime sanctuary of immortality.  As bombs burst in air and life and limbs were violently ripped from us and from mortality, taken by terrorist acts of those depraved of courage, consideration or care for life, a gift which we could not earn.  Boston found herself rocking, reeling and recoiling to a determined defiant defense against the spirit of cowardice and corrupt fear.  With inexhaustible resources at her disposal and a united front across this great union backed by the highest office in the nation to exhume, extricate and exterminate the spirit of fear, she was able to hunt down in coffins, cavities and caves until she captured the perpetrators and prosecute them to the full extent of the law.

Today, Saturday, November 2, 2013 in the year of our Lord, we celebrate Boston Red Sox 3rd landmark World Series with strong pride, strong purpose and strong vision for this and many more future crowning moments.  The herculean wall of Red Sox Nation and “Boston Strong” freedom fighters who lined the streets in the same place and space busting beyond millions is the quintessential hallmark and vista of victory over fear and corrupt cowardice of the most unconscionable egregious kind.  Hear them sing “God bless America, land that I love; Stand beside her and guide her through the night with a light from above.  From the mountains to prairies, to the oceans white with foam, God bless America, my home sweet home.”

This is a nation of resilience!  This is a nation of recourse!  This is a nation of resolve!    And this indomitable spirit which indwells her runs deep within the kindred spirit, heart, soul and DNA of Boston.  So, we will stand sturdy and staunch forward facing into our future with a spirit of temerity and we will unapologetically fight to the last beckoning, fight to the last bullet, and fight to the last breath as we are BOSTON STRONG!
