I Am With You Until The End Of The Age

This piece was inspired and written for my mother’s 80th birthday celebration.

“I’m With You Always Until The End Of The Age”

When the fullness of God’s Word had come, in the dawn of 1928 on the 21st day of the 3rd month, the multitude of heaven’s witnesses resounded in jubilation and joined creation in manifold witness to the greatness of God’s faithfulness.  As he breathed from antiquity into being that which was formed before the foundation of the world and now takes on flesh at the bidding of his Word and shall be called beautiful and blessed.  That day, the cosmos clapped in exaltation and exclamation to the glory of God as he has done everything well.  For a woman child born of breath into the world by the Word, the Logos, the Lord of hosts shall proclaim the goodness of God in the land of the living as he has donned her with fortitude, faith and favor and ordained the spirit of life and longevity to linger until the strength of her days have been fulfilled.

Behold the seed, the woman child, Mavis; for salvation has come to this seed and her household in the days of her youth and she shall be a testimony to the church, chaff and children of this world.  For this seed shall not fall on fallow ground for Satan to have his fill.  This seed shall not fall on rocky ground and spring up as weeds in the wilderness to be scorched by the noonday son and wither like the ungodly without trail or trace.   This seed shall not fall afoul of thorns and succumb to the sinful secular patron to power and prestige, lure of life or wealth of this world.  But this seed will blossom from the bosom of the good soil watered by the Good Shepherd and her belief in the Most High branches into the manifold blessings of the Beloved.  This seed with patient endurance shall become like a tree planted by the shores where the healing waters flow which brings forth fruit in season thirty, sixty and a hundred fold.  Her leaves shall not wither but shall be a shelter and shade of prayer unto her children, children’s children, extended family and friends as the prayers of the righteous shadows the nations from the blight of evil and whatsoever she doeth will prosper.

O look and see, a godly woman of proverbs is born among you as she has won the heart of her husband and he trusts in her to the fullness of his days.   His name has not been shamed, soiled or sullied by her work and words in communion, community and the commonwealth of his people.  But she has brought honor to the name of her husband, honor to her household and honor to the name of his homeland, a blessing from the Lord.  See, she rises in the still of night as her lamp does not go dim but is trimmed and burning and she offers sacrifice of praise, prayer and penitence unto her God as she is devout to the Decalogue of the Deity.  Her prayers do not fall to the ground but are honored by the Holy One as her children do not sleep or slumber in the days of their youth from the terminal sting of death or venomous victory of the grave.  The fruit of her hands is perennial, pure and plentiful and her children are not in want and their seed do not beg for bread.  She feeds the fugitive and forgotten faces from the fruits of her labor and welcomes princes and paupers in her place of abode without preference and partiality.  Teachings of kindness are upon her tongue and tender words of wisdom and forgiveness falls in her fervent prayers.  She is a precious jewel that is hard to find and when a man finds her he has found favor of the Lord.

Behold, the tears of my daughter are many in the latter years as she will wail for her beloved hero, help mate and husband as he has gone the way of Yahweh.  Today the tears of my daughter are many in the latter years as she will wail for her children, children’s children for she desires the glory of God to go before them as a consuming fire by night and pillar of cloud by day.  Today the tears of my daughter are many in the latter years as she will wail in the silent solitude of her soul; for the spirit of loneliness and longing abides in the upper room for loved ones, companionship and consolation of sweet communion.  Today the tears of my daughter are many in the latter years but behold, do not fret or fear daughter of Zion.  For they will cease and surrender as the Comforter has come, the Holy Ghost from heaven, the Father’s promise given, the giver of immortal joy and gladness shall sooth thy soul this day.  Now see her rise and sing the salient songs of psalms from a soul not of sorrow but of sublime servitude singing “What is this that took my life and made it beautiful?  What is this that holds me close and never let’s me go?  What is this that tells me better days are yet to come?  It’s your love that gives new mercy every morning.  What is this that gives me peace in every circumstance?  What is this that broke the chains and made me free at last?  All this joy I have there is nowhere I can hide it.  It’s your loving, and I must tell the world about it.  What is this that wipes my tears when life is hard to bear?  What is this that takes my hands and leads me everywhere?  Never leaves me nor forsakes me that’s your promise.  It’s your love and there is nothing else just like it.  What is this that makes me want to live each day for you?   Even though I can’t repay the way you brought me through?  What is this that wants me to keep you smiling?  It’s your love, your sweet love that changed my life.”

See, with tears of joy that is unspeakable and full of glory, the daughter of Zion sings the wondrous love of Jesus, of his mercy and his grace.  Blessed are the aged eyes that see what you see and ears that hear what you hear; for you have lived to behold the testimony of My Word as your children, children’s children, extended family and friends rise up and call you blessed of the Lord.  Arise daughter of Zion for God’s atoning love is all sufficient for you!  Arise daughter of Zion for your love is anchored in the axiom of Adoni!  Arise daughter of Zion and behold the Living Stone, the Rock of Ages, the Rock of Zion, your Ebenezer has come!  Arise daughter of Zion for you are known and fully known by God and blessed of the Lord among women are you; for I am with you always until the end of the age.
